I really am pretty anti-dieting and have based my eating philosophy off of a book called Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole. One of the best pieces of advice she gives about cravings is that if you REALLY want something, have it. Many times if I truly want a cookie or popcorn, but think I shouldn't, I end up eating a bunch of calories that I wasn't as interested in and am left unsatisfied. Tribole also says that many times if we indulge these cravings we eventually get tired of that food, which I have also found to be true.
This book has helped me look beyond really restrictive diets and pushed me to commit to slow and maintainable weight loss. I think it has paid off, too! I am 2 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight without relying on any major restrictions to my diet. I highly recommend this philosophy of eating and if you want to know more, check the book out!
