At the first week of this challenge, my baby was 6 weeks old. I jumped right in by starting to do Insanity (a dvd workout series) everyday. Man did my body respond! I lost several inches and a few pounds in the first couple weeks. Now... I'm at a plateau, and trying to find middle ground between losing weight, and staying safe for my exclusively-nursing baby. Any suggestions to get past this?!
Ally,
ReplyDeleteHere is a VERY low calorie way to help your body produce good milk for your baby. This recipe is tried and true.
equal parts of the following. (I would start with 1/2 cup each, go from there depending on how your body responds.)
fresh spinach
fresh parsley
fresh alfalfa sprouts (If you'd like to learn how to sprout your own I can teach you)
add 4-5 cubes of ice
add 1 cup pineapple juice (you could use apple, but pineapple helps with milk production...and adds all the flavor)
Mix that up in your blender and...you have a yummy low calorie way to make milk
I don't know if that will help or if that's what you are looking for - but thought I'd share. Have a great week. Good luck!
I don't know about you, but while nursing I have to accept my plateau to some degree. It has been the same with each of my 4 babies. I lose much of my weight, but stop losing 10-15 pounds above where I'd like to be. And I don't lose the rest of that weight until I'm done nursing. I still try to keep a calorie budget and exercise, so that all those healthy habits are in place and I feel in control. But after a couple babies I stopped fighting it and just learned to be happy where I was until after I was finished nursing.
ReplyDeleteThis may not be the case for you, but remember it's not a race and there's no deadline. Just keep at it.
